The artist Ars Dementis also known as Dr.nTT is Panagiotis Kalogiratos born in Patra, Greece in a family of professional photographers (the oldest studio/lab in Patra) and is still working as a photographer as well. Dabbling in photography since he could remember himself, he found himself attracted to art, in general, at a very early age.
During his early years, his music influences were that of the 60's and the 70's and it was not until the early 90's that he discovered the electronic movement. He started experimenting with House music during the mid 90s, where he ended up as a summer club owner and collaborated with local DJs and producers. It was due to his nature of getting easily bored, that he continued to experiment with a variety of musical genres and styles until he hit Techno as his ideal musical platform under the alias "Dr.nTT" (deriving from his refusal to call himself a DJ, the belief that his sound experimentation was something like a psychological surgery and an intonation play at the word "entity"). He quickly found himself experimenting with electroacoustics and in a madly driven quest for originality he started composing and producing music tracks with unorthodox methods. He used things like metallic items, pieces of wood and other strange artifacts that could produce sounds in order to emulate instruments or even create abstract sounds via Digital Signal Processing.
He composes on many different genres (not always electronic) depending on mood and inspiration (or lack of :P). His rock/punk rock musical background is always an influencing factor and he avoids the use of samples not recorded by him while he is addicted to synthesizers and sound design.
The latin alias Ars Dementis was born as means to differentiate from his Techno gigs and was also used for signing his photographic work. Everything other than Techno (Experimental, IDM, Glitch, Trip Hop, etc) was under the alias Ars Dementis. Nowadays though he signs everything as Ars Dementis. As a DJ he went from vinyl to his current digital + live improvisational softsynths gig, skipping CDs entirely.
He ended up collaborating with with the Techno scene in Athens (eg Get Connected team) and the Northern Greece (eg the Technognosia team from Alexandroupoli) but he has actively worked with, promoted or has been affiliated with every major producer and DJ in Patras, several in Athens and some from abroad. He has also worked on the soundtracks of two short films by G. Raftopoulos.
He now resides in Exarheia, Athens which he often calls "Athens' Montmartre", still bent on artistic expression and discovering his "Raison D'etre" through sound, photography and experimentation. He is currently a resident of PUTA (Pure Underground Techno Addiction) parties, the Vault 88 parties, International Fnoob Techno-Only Radio and Trust Radio (Athens).
